Artificial Reef for South-West
We have recently participated in the royalties for regions-funded Artificial Reef project for the south-west.
MJB Industries was approached to participate in the manufacturing process of the modules by Haejoo Pty Ltd, which was awarded the $1.8 million State Government contract to build the reefs. Local company Australind Pre-Mix supplied all the concrete for the operation, which started early January.
The two Royalties for Regions-funded artificial reefs are to be installed off the coast of both the City of Bunbury and Busselton in the hope that they will help to create new marine life communities off our coasts. The reefs are to be installed 6km off Bunbury’s breakwater and the other off the Dunsborough coastline, designed to bolster WA’s fish stocks by attracting fish to the area.
MJB Industries will also be looking after the transportation of the units once completed. By the end of March 2013, we will have deployed 30 modules each to Bunbury Port and Port Geographe.
